Christene Freedman 2023
Christene Freedman, District 7980
Rotary Club of Wilton

Professionally Christene is the Chief Advancement Officer at Waveny LIfeCare Network where she provides leadership in all facets of the philanthropic program so that everyone in the community has an equal opportunity to access healthcare regardless of financial situation or ability.  She began her career in non-profit leadership working as the Supervisor of Education for the New England Aquarium in Boston.  Christene continued her career at the EcoTarium, a science and nature museum, as the Manager of Museum Education programs and then professionally became involved in fundraising for the YMCA of the USA, private schools and museums.

In addition to Freedman’s professional experience, she serves on the Board of Trustees and Strategic Planning Committee for the C.H. Booth Library, as well as the Board of Directors for the EverWonder Children’s Museum, and Advisory Council Member for the Mary Hawley Society of the Edmond Town Hall.

This career path, coupled with her commitment to volunteerism, aligns with Freedman’s personal priority that her local communities are safe and sustainable which led her to Rotary.  Freedman was introduced to the Rotary Club of Wilton in 2014 and quickly joined the club’s leadership holding numerous offices including club president for two terms, foundation chair and board member.  Freedman has involved herself in district-level administration as Assistant Governor, District Membership Chair, District Interact Co-Chair, and committee member of the District Training Team.  Freedman is also a Paul Harris Fellow.

Her husband, David Freedman, has been a Rotarian for over 10 years and is currently Assistant Governor and Membership Chair for the District.  He also served as President for the Rotary Club of Newtown. She and David have two children, Zachary and Madison, who spend their time volunteering at various Rotary events with their parents such as preparing meals for the homeless at the Dorothy Day House and Rise Against Hunger. Their family shares their love for their most faithful companion, Horizon, a very happy and energetic English golden retriever.
